The Woodlands
Master-planned villages, tree-lined trails, and some of the strongest schools in the state. Where we live and work.

The Woodlands isn't a subdivision — it's a fully master-planned township, developed starting in 1974 and self-governing since 2008. That means real planning underneath the trees: over 200 miles of hike-and-bike paths, a preserved tree canopy, and a town center (Market Street and Hughes Landing) built around Lake Woodlands instead of bolted on afterward.
It's made up of a dozen-plus named villages, each with its own character, HOA, and price point — from starter townhomes to guard-gated golf-course estates. That range is exactly why so many families land here at different life stages and never leave: you can move up within The Woodlands instead of moving out of it.

Schools
Nearly all of The Woodlands is zoned to Conroe ISD, consistently one of the strongest-performing large districts in the Houston area. Creekside Park, the one village in Harris County, is zoned to Tomball ISD — worth confirming a specific address's zoning before you fall in love with a house.
What homes cost
Wide range by design: condos and townhomes start in the $300Ks, most single-family homes run from the $500Ks to $900Ks, and the golf-course and lakefront communities (Carlton Woods, Grogan's Forest) reach well into the multi-millions.
Getting around
About 28 miles north of Downtown Houston on I-45 — roughly 30–45 minutes depending on traffic. The Woodlands is also home to a major employment base of its own (ExxonMobil's global campus among the largest), so a lot of residents barely commute at all.

Miles of shaded hike-and-bike trails connect every village.

Green space is everywhere — even a walk to the mailbox passes a water feature.

Lake Woodlands and its trail are a favorite for a morning walk or run.
