What Schools Is NorthGrove in Magnolia, TX Zoned To?

NorthGrove, the Toll Brothers community off FM 1488 in Magnolia, Texas, is in Magnolia ISD, and most 2026 listings there show Cedric C. Smith Elementary, Bear Branch Junior High and Magnolia High School. That is the common answer for the community. It is not a promise for every street, because Magnolia ISD has redrawn its middle grades zones recently and is building more campuses, so the address decides, not the neighborhood name.
Here is the part that trips people up. Listing sheets fill in the school fields automatically, and several NorthGrove listings say so in their own fine print. A listing can be a year behind the district.
The Campuses Listings Show, and the One They Skip
Magnolia ISD runs elementary, intermediate, junior high and high school campuses. NorthGrove listings usually show three of those four:
| Level | What most NorthGrove listings show |
|---|---|
| Elementary | Cedric C. Smith Elementary |
| Intermediate | Often left blank on the listing |
| Junior high | Bear Branch Junior High |
| High school | Magnolia High School |
That blank row is the one to chase down. The intermediate grades sit between elementary and junior high, and they are exactly the grades the district rezoned most recently. If a listing leaves it out, ask the district for it by address.
One more wrinkle. Magnolia ISD has two high schools, Magnolia High and Magnolia West High. A 2024 local real estate guide listed Magnolia West as an option for the area. We found NorthGrove listings pointing to Magnolia High, but that is a pattern, not a confirmation.
What Changed in the Last Two Years
In October 2024, Magnolia ISD approved a rezoning map for a new intermediate and junior high campus, effective for the 2025-26 school year, per Community Impact’s report. Before that, the district had reworked its elementary boundaries for the first time in 18 years when Audubon Elementary opened.
It is not done growing. Voters approved a $465.7 million bond in May 2026 that pays for three new schools, according to the district’s bond update on Community Impact. New schools usually mean new lines. If you are buying in NorthGrove with a school plan in mind, the zone on the day you close is not guaranteed for the years after.
How We Check a NorthGrove Address
Magnolia ISD does not publish a neighborhood-by-neighborhood list. It runs an address lookup instead, so the work happens one house at a time:
- Open the Magnolia ISD attendance zones page and use the School Site Locator with the full street address.
- Write down all four campuses, including the intermediate school.
- Confirm the district on the Montgomery Central Appraisal District record for the property.
- Ask the district whether a boundary study is open for that area.
- Finish it inside your option period, while you can still walk away. Our explainer on how long the Texas option period lasts shows why that window matters.
There is no rating or ranking anywhere on that list, on purpose. If a campus matters to you, visit it, call it and read the district’s own reports.
Where This Fits in the NorthGrove Picture
Schools are one piece of a NorthGrove decision. The MUD tax and the floor plan are the others. Our NorthGrove overview covers the community and the tax line, and what your budget buys in NorthGrove works through price per square foot. If you are weighing it against a no-MUD neighbor, Lake Windcrest’s schools and zoning shows how that community lands in the same district.
When we list a home in NorthGrove, we look up the zoned campuses for that exact address before it goes live, so a buyer is not surprised in the middle of the option period.
